The Recycle Now icon

The Recycle Now icon is designed to be the recognised symbol for recycling and to encourage people into action. The curved arrow represents the action and sustainability of recycling. The heart signifies the feel-good nature of the recycling activity.

The Mobius Loop

The Mobius Loop is generally understood to be the international symbol for recycling, but the use of the symbol is entirely voluntary.

A % Symbol

A % indicates that a certain quantity of recycled material has been used in the production of the packaging. This is commonly found on cardboard.

The Green Dot

The Green Dot is a symbol used in many European countries. It shows that the producer of the packaging has made a financial contribution towards its recovery and recycling, in the country of origin or sale.

Plastics
PET- Polyethylene terephthalate

Oven-ready meal trays and fizzy drink bottles

HDPE – High-density polyethylene

Bottles for milk and washing-up liquids

PVC – Polyvinyl chloride

Cling film, food trays, squash/juice bottles, mineral water and shampoo

LDPE – Low density polyethylene

Carrier bags and bin liners

PP – Polypropylene

Margarine tubs, microwaveable meal tray

PS – Polystyrene

Yoghurt pots, foam meat or fish trays, burger boxes/containers, egg cartons, vending cups, plastic cutlery, protective  packaging for electronic goods and toys

Metals
Denotes that the packaging is made from aluminium

 Denotes that the packaging is made from Steel

Paper/Card
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved.
Glass
This is used on glass bottles and denotes that the bottle should be put in a bottle bank.
Wood
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved.
