Producer Responsibility Obligations Timeline 2024

January

We send data requests to our members for
their packaging handled in the previous
calendar year. We scrutinise the data,
ensuring all your packaging activities are
captured and work with you to ensure it is as
accurate as reasonably possible ready for
submission to the Regulator.

No later than January 31st, we ensure our
schemes Statement of Compliance for the
previous compliance year is submitted to the
Regulator and all relevant PRNs are delivered
and accepted.

February

This time we spend solidly working through our members data including test weighing projects and visits where necessary.

In addition, we are reviewing the 2023 recycling data to forecast 2024 carry forward PRNs. This impacts how the compliance for the commencing year will play out, the PRN market prices & our PRN buying strategy.

March

April

Members data is submitted to the Regulator(s) in time for the April 15th registration deadline.

Additionally, we review the Q1 published recycling data, analysing the figures and adapting our PRN buying structure accordingly.

May

Review the placed on the UK market data for 2023 identifying which producers are not yet registered, what this will mean for PRN market conditions and compliance.

June

July

Review the Q2 published recycling data and assess PRN buying strategies.

Work with members through the summer months who may wish to update their systems with updated packaging weights and help them to make continued improvements. We also audit either in-person or via desktop through the summer.

August

September

October

Review the Q3 recycling data, assess last of in year PRN buying, start strategising for the following years market.

November

December

January

We ensure all PRNs for our scheme are delivered and accepted, ensuring the Statement of Compliance is submitted to the Regulator no later than January 31st for the previous compliance year.

We then start the data process again for the following compliance year, requesting our members packaging handled data for the previous calendar year.
