WEEE Complience

Are you obligated?

We can make producer obligations under WEEE Regulations simple for you.

Producers must register as a producer annually. How a producer does this depends on how much
EEE you have placed on the UK market in the previous calendar year (also known as a compliance
year):

  • If you placed less than 5 tonnes of EEE on the UK market in a compliance year, you can register directly with the environmental regulator as a ‘small producer’.
  • If you placed more than 5 tonnes of EEE on the market, you must join a producer
compliance scheme (PCS) – such as us, Smart Comply!

The PCS takes on their obligations to finance the collection, treatment, recovery and
environmentally sound disposal of household WEEE collected in the UK.
The weight of any batteries in this EEE must be subtracted and reported separately, under the
regulations covering waste batteries.
